Personal.. Knowledge.. Management. Is that the Knowledge of your Personal Management, or the Knowledge of your Management Personally? Neither. It’s the internal mental considerations for software design to aid your mental internal knowledge network.
Who attended and what were they there for?
- Heiko Haller described an overall definition of what PKM was and the differences from PIM (Personal Information Management).
- Richard Pircher talked about the blindspots within PKM.
- MC Kindsmüller talked about how PKM could help improve SocialWare.
- Jessica Yip talked about the implementation of PKM within communities and enterprises, in regards to Intellectual Capital.
- Olaf Grebner talked about how PKM could help us remember meetings and their contents.
- Malte Reißig talked about the open source software project DeepaMehta and also considered procrastination as a structured activity.
- Erika L Borg talked about how interrupts could affect good flow in PKM.
- Konrad Voelkel talked about the mathematical approach to PKM by identifying a dependency formula for learning.
- David Elsweiler a true PIM specialist, put forward the need for PKM within the understanding of searching and recollection from the idea of a store where a user stores forgotten information.
What did I talk about?
What was it like?
It was a very informative mix of both talks, specialists from differing fields of expertise, and also good collaborative work. Using a technique called World Cafe (tables with hosts and a large piece of paper where you can scribble ideas down) we all were able to share and discuss our problems and possible ideas on how to solve the issues within PKM.
What did I get from it?
It brought an interesting view to software and system design by taking into account our natural way of thinking.
For me, it was nice to be able to have other Computer Scientists understand and share the more external humane factors that might effect software design.
